Hospitality: Liberal Arts

While reading reviews of the new self-titled record by Hospitality, I noticed a trend of comparing front lady Amber Papini’s vocal quality to her English counterparts. Her voice reminds me a bit more of Emily Haines. Luckily, you’ll have an opportunity to decide on comparisons yourself in a few short days. It’ll be released by Merge on January 31st. I can’t seem to turn it off because it’s fantastic.

“So you found the lock but not the key that college brings and all the trouble of a BA in English Literature instead of Law or something more practical. You trade in all your time for money and the blues. No trust fund, no daddy doctor. What do you have to prove? So you found your joy on Saturdays in friends and film and fingering your girlfriend. You father’s pride was beaming when you bought your first home in Garden City. Build a team up in fashion or attitude. Long sober walks up-state, you don’t miss a thing, do you?”
